Our Year 12 students recently took part in the Thailand World Schools Debating Championship 2022. They had to engage in 6 tough debates over the weekend, including topics such as the Metaverse, COP26, feminism in advertising, and activism. Even though this was our first time competing in a debate competition, we finished the weekend in 4th place out of 22 teams and qualified for the main draw.
The quarter-final debate was about activism on social media, and unfortunately, we narrowly missed out on advancing to the next round. It was a fantastic effort by the whole squad, and they really grew as debaters throughout the weekend and gained valuable speaking skills.
As a bonus, four of our debaters were voted in the Top 10 rookie speakers of the tournament, with Neuf finishing 3rd overall. A big congratulations to Anon, Anny, Nano, Flint, and Neuf for representing our school with such esteem and they should be proud of the progress they made.
Special thank you to Mr. Dominic, Mr. James and the English department team.
