SPIP hosted our first GBAC tournament of 2022 yesterday. We had six prestigious international schools in attendance. Schools at the event were Brighton College, Denla British School, Garden International School, King’s College, Thai Sikh International School and of course SPIP.
During the GBAC U18 Girls Tournament, the students from all schools showed exceptional camaraderie, respect for each other and fair play. Furthermore, and most importantly, all students at the event built long-life bonds with our wider Greater Bangkok international school community through the spirit of GBAC, sport and participation.
We are ecstatic to announce that our U18 Girls’ Basketball team were undefeated throughout the tournament and proudly crowned GBAC Champions 2022 in a hard-fought and very close final against Denla British School.
During the final, our U18 Girls showed determination in defence, and phenomenal team cohesion in offence to achieve a heroic comeback. In the closing seconds of the game Summer – Kristica Kamolvarinthip (Head Girl, Class President and team Captain) was provided with an opportunity to score the winning basket under pressure. As the basket was scored the home crowds in support cheered in excitement as this provided our U18 Girls with a narrow lead and ultimately sealed a historic victory.
