During mid-July, we departed from Bangkok to New Zealand for a summer camp. We were truly honoured to be learning with Waiuku College to learn more about the culture and wellbeing of the Kiwis. All the international students felt privileged to be a part of the Māori culture. A small group of Thai students participated by sharing a small cultural exchange, which was Thai dancing. Tata, Sense, Notre, Primmy, and Payin volunteered to be a part of this.
On the other hand, we all stayed with a host family who took really great care of us. For our trips, we went on a ski trip, which was a blasting life experience, to Rainbow’s End, the biggest theme park in New Zealand, and visited Massey University. The main events were going to the Hobbit House where we saw the movie set of the “Lord of the Rings” and going up the Sky Tower to see the astounding view of Auckland.
We also participated in a cooking competition in which we were separated into three groups. The judges were the school teachers, and we surely developed teamwork skills by sharing and cooking amazing Thai food we‘ve made with others. We cooked Tom Yum and Pad Thai, and every group did incredible!
Overall, it was a great and memorable trip of a lifetime for us, having the opportunity to experience the New Zealand culture and sharing our own Thai culture to them was absolutely awesome!! We definitely made unforgettable memories there too!!
