During the end of July, we departed from Bangkok to the UK!! This summer camp we were so thrilled to visit and tour different places around the city of London. Not only that, we got to experience learning in classes at one of the UK’s leading research-focussed universities which is Queen Mary University of London. Moreover, we had evening activities which helped us to get to know more people from various parts of the world. We were really honored to be learning there with other international CB students in the room which was very exciting!!
The first week, we had a culture shock with the foods here with how different it was compared to Thai food. However, it was pleasurable to try new dishes and foods which helped us learn about new cultures. The best meal would have to be Wednesday’s lunch, when we had barbecues near the canal. Not only did we get to enjoy the amazing view of the canal but we also got to eat grilled marinated chicken. To recommend the future, bring your favorite side dishes from Thailand to not get homesick.
The past weeks have been filled with excitement and adventures as we ventured to various destinations within the city. After our morning classes each day, we went on many tours and Westminster Walking Tour, Tate Modern, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the British Museum and we cannot forget the Harry Potter Studio Tour. It was tiring, yet an extraordinary experience we couldn’t find in Thailand. We also went on two full-day excursions. The first day in Cambridge; to visit the famous universities and the second day in Thorpe Park; to go on scary rides.
The second week, the schedule became the opposite. Instead of having morning lessons, we had afternoon lessons. In the morning, we got to visit the museums, Madame Tussauds, and Hyde Park. Unfortunately, we went on one excursion tour. We went to Brighton to smell the fresh air on the seaside. Furthermore, we had a short tour at Sea Life Brighton, the oldest aquarium!
All those fun few weeks we had there were certainly fun and thrilling! Sadly, on our last day we had to say goodbye and head back home to Thailand. Overall, it was such a notable and enjoyable trip, having the time to spend time with friends and make lasting memories together was definitely the highlight of the trip!!
